Most difficult case et will be showing her that he’s everything she truly desires and that love is the greatest of adventures“Before I realized it the unusually strong and well developed characters of The Kidnapped Bride had sneaked up on me and captured my full attention This is one of the best shorter books I have ever read” Delle Jacobs author of Lady Wicke. E had taken in as her own Definitely depth to her than other girls in her position in life I liked Dougal too He liked what he did and he wasn t ashamed to work for a livingIf ou are looking for a uick enjoyable read this is the book for Gunnin' For Love youThanks go to Kensington Books via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review The Kidnapped Bride by Heather Hiestand was a intriguing bookDougal Alexander is hired to find a sister who went missing aear ago She was last seen in a bad part of town He must find her as soon as possibleHe meets her when she appears as a maid at the home of Manfred Cross in Edinburgh but does not realize it until he sees her borthers He puts their faces together and realizes that he has just missed her He takes a train to go pick her up only to find that she is not in residence and that the police have no clue who she is and that they suspect that she was taken by white slavers and is set to be shipped off very soon Dougal goes down to the docks to rescue Lady Elizabeth and in finding her he finds a whole lot then he bargained for She spirited and is ready to take on anyone for her freedom and "The Freedom Of AnotherI "freedom anotherI this book For a short story it was well writtenI gave this book 4 out of 5 starsI recieved a free copy of this book in return for my honest opinion There was a lot to like about The Kidnapped Bride I loved the late Victorian setting the use of interesting British locations and the way the lives of those a little less fortunate than the aristocracy were depicted Those only reading for the fluffy romantic scenes might not like it but I appreciated how the characters and plot were well established before the romance got underwayI was really enjoying a lot about this bookHowever this is a book in a series and there re characters Timoe you re already supposed to knowFunny but I read a review of another one of Heather Hiestand s books and people were commenting it lost its way around the 70% mark I found that to be the case with this book too No there wasn t any need for a completely out of the blue sex scene A woman already caring for one child a woman with no money work or idea where she was going to live would not risk everything by jumping into bed while sick with a man she hardly knew and planned to never see again There was no need for a compulsory sex scene I was enjoying the story immensely before that pointSo much care is taken with the research and it s great to suddenly come across some technical development telephones for example and rememberou re not in the Regency period any It was so refreshingI also loved the use of the Edinburgh setting and the exploration of the lives of the lower classes of Victorian BritainHowever it never ceases to amaze me that US authors who do so much other research do zero research for the most important thing language When the characters talked about diapers it threw me out of the story as strongly as if they d started discussing the internet The Keep in Edinburgh But outwitting Dougal’s tactics to return her to London and her family will be easier than staying away from his intoxicating kissesHe’s a baron’s second son accustomed to making his own way and uncovering the truth Now Dougal must keep Lady Elizabeth close for her own protection but her spirited wiles are proving scandalously irresistible His.
